Staff

All Peachtree Childtown staff members have been trained in the basic classes of First Aid, Child Abuse, Infectious Diseases, Health and Safety, and CPR. Some teachers hold bachelors or associates degrees. All other staff members are either certified as Child Development Associates or currently enrolled in Child Development Associates classes offered on site. Staff are required to participate in at least ten hours of Bright from the Start certified training annually. Prospective staff members are carefully interviewed, their references are thoroughly checked, and they work as substitute teachers to see how they "fit" with our staff, students and program. Criminal background checks, physicals, and tuberculin tests are required before any employee is allowed to work with children.

Peachtree Childtown is legally managed by a Board of Directors nominated and approved by Peachtree Christian Church's Administrative Board. This Board of Directors selects a Peachtree Childtown Director to be in charge of operations, financial management, staff supervision, and program development and implementation. The current director, Frankey Jones, holds a masters degree in early childhood education and has worked in the field for more than thirty years. She has experience as an elementary school teacher, public school administrator, preschool director and corporate daycare executive director. She has been a leader in the fields of emerging literacy and child advocacy.

The Childtown Staff includes seven staff members with Masters Degrees, six with Bachelor's Degrees, and six with current CDAs. Two staff members are currently enrolled as seniors in bachelor degree programs at Georgia State University. Childtown offers the opportunity for internships at the Bachelor's, Masters, and Doctoral level.

Staff In-Service Training is a high priority and is planned throughout the year to meet and go beyond state and national accreditation requirements. Currently Peachtree Childtown is participating in a grant through Quality Care which provides us with ongoing technical support to prepare us to apply for National accreditation.
