How to Register

To register complete a registration form, provide a $100 deposit, and mail or bring both to the Childtown office. Children are placed on the waiting list based on the date the registration form is received. When a space is available, our Assistant Director Shalette Lawton contacts the parent and gives them the option of enrolling immediately or waiting for the next call/next space. Parents wishing to enroll complete the Parent Contract and plan for transitioning into the program..

Prior to entering Childtown, parents meet with the Director, Frankey Jones, to review all aspects of the parent contract. During this meeting Frankey and the parents get to know each other and Frankey has a chance to make sure the new parents understand the terms of the enrollment agreement, the expectations of the program and licensing requirements. Parents have a chance to communicate their child’s special needs and strengths and what they expect from a quality daycare experience.

Transition Entry Program

Infants and children enter Childtown through a well-planned transition program. This process allows children and parents adjustment time. Both parents and child become acquainted with the classroom teachers, the class schedule and the daily routines. Parental presence is gradually phased out over a three day period using the following process:

  • Step 1: Parent and child visit together for an hour to get to know the teacher and the room set-up.
  • Step 2: The parent brings the child for a 2-3 hour visit in the classroom, leaves when the child is comfortable but remains available in the center in case the child needs parental support.
  • Step 3: The child is brought to the classroom by the parents. After a short stay, the parent leaves for three hours, remaining available by phone if the parent is needed during this time.

After this 3-day transitional period, the parent brings the child at the usual drop-off time and leaves, after making sure that the child is comfortable. On that fourth day the child remains until normal pick-up time. Teachers always maintain current contact information and contact the parent if the child remains unhappy for a long period of time. Parents are welcome to call and check on the child whenever as often as needed for their own comfort. Teachers work hard to bond with new children so that morning departures are peaceful and happy.

Infants and Toddlers

All infant, toddler, and early preschool classes provide the parent with a written daily log of the events and behaviors of the day as well as eating, diaper changing or potty time, and sleeping times.

Parents are called if any injury to the child occurs. The Director or her representative sees the injury, reviews the incident write-up, and advises staff as necessary regarding procedures and care.

An emergency plan in case of serious injury is always in place and a member of the Administrative team is always in charge as Chief Administrator in the absence of the Director.

Childtown is an open center to parents. Parents can visit their child at the center at any time. However, visitation by parents to toddler and early-age preschool rooms often disrupts the child’s day if the child thinks the presence of the parent means “It is time to go.” Discretion in visiting is requested with intent of assuring room routines will generally continue.
